In his controversial book Deschooling Society Ivan Illich advocated the total disestablishment of educational systems since they only perpetuate the evils of the established order. In this book Illich reflects on the consequences of Deschooling, as do a galaxy of his critics who consider the pros and cons of Illich's ideas for education today
