Fr Haring wants to open the horizon for the broader, underlying questions. No moral theologian or ethicist has, up to now, given systematic attention to a therapeutic approach, presenting a therapeutic spiritually and strategy. This is what well-known Catholic moral theologian tries to do in this book, hoping that others will taje up the theme and develop it. Many theological and pastoral concerns flow together in this treatise. The fundamental element is a coherent, therapeutic understanding of redemption, reconciliation and liberation, as found in the best Christian tradition. If humankind is in extreme danger on self-destruction then there is nothing more important than to join in the wholehearted search for saving truth and for effective remedies: "How can we help the sick if we do not recognize what is sick in ourselves and have not learned to accept the others as sick people?" This is one of fr Haring;s major studies. It works out a dimension of the peace-problem so far scarcely touched.
